Juniperus horizontalis 'Bar Harbor'

The Bar Harbor is a creeping juniper that forms compact, dense mats of horizontally tiered foliage.  Has wide spreading, trailing branches of feathery, scale-like leaves.

Foliage is gray-green to blue-green in summer turning more silvery plum in winter.  Not as prostrate to the ground as Blue Rug Juniper.

Adapts to a wide range of soil types.  Is cold, heat, drought, wind, road salt, and salt-spray tolerant.  But does not tolerate overly wet soils.

Excellent for groundcover (plant 3-4 feet apart) in foundations, borders, rock gardens, and cascading over walls and down slopes.  Best in full sun.
