Broadleaf evergreen shrub is compactly branched with broadly mounded form.  Very dark purple buds form ball-shaped trusses of violet-purple flowers that have brown markings.

Leaves are glossy, dark green all year round and have slight waviness to them.  Very hardy. Plant in moist, good, well-drained, acidic soil.

Ideal for foundation or border planting, evergreen background or hedge.
