Fir, Fraser Abies fraseri

Fraser Fir is a narrow, symmetrical, pyramidal evergreen with horizontal branching, often with a spire-like crown.

Dense and compact when young, more open with age. Very soft, shiny, dark green needles are silver on the underside. Cones are purple when young.

Likes cool, moist, well-drained soil. Does not do well in heavy,wet, clay soils or hot, dry places.

Good as specimen tree, lawn tree or for parks, estates, campuses, large commercial areas, etc.

Zone: 4-7 Height: 40-60 ft. Spread: 20-25 ft.
